Whare Tukutuku is proud to announce the launch of the Whakangungu Rākau: Māori Alcohol and Other Drug Workforce Action Plan 2024-2029. This pivotal initiative, developed by Te Rau Ora through Whare Tukutuku and commissioned by Te Aka Whai Ora, aims to guide the Māori alcohol and other drug (AOD) workforce over the next five years. The plan focuses on reducing AOD-related harm within Māori communities and addressing the specific needs of whānau.
The development of this action plan has been informed by the voices of whānau and kaimahi Māori from across Aotearoa. Their insights have shed light on the widespread impact of AOD issues, the significant challenges faced by our communities, and the aspirations for a future workforce capable of delivering the highest standards of care.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shared their whakaaro,” said a Whare Tukutuku Kaiwhakahaere. “The valuable feedback and insights from whānau and kaimahi have been instrumental in shaping this action plan. Their contributions will help us pave the way for a more effective and responsive AOD workforce.”
