Ki te Ara Whakamua is now open!

This one-time contestable fund has been launched to support Māori-led solutions to reduce alcohol and other drug (AOD) harm. Administered by Te Rau Ora through Whare Tukutuku, the fund aligns with the vision: Kia tika te wā; kia tika te wāhi; kia tika te tangata; kia ora te whānau – ensuring that whānau flourish with the right support.

Tracey Potiki, Kaiwhakahaere of Whare Tukutuku, emphasises that the fund encourages whānau and communities to rethink AOD care, celebrating Māori identity rather than perpetuating stereotypes.  The initiative responds to Te Wai Taramea Māori Alcohol and Other Drug Workforce Report 2023, which highlighted the need for improved AOD care for Māori across Aotearoa.

Funding streams:

  • Whānau-led initiatives: Grants up to $10,000,
  • Community-led initiatives: Grants up to $25,000
