He Waka Oranga – Te Tai Tokerau

Life matters for sustainable longevity of hope for the other. The focus of this initiative is to uplift and remain well within Te Whare Tapa through a marae nohonga solidifying kaimahi & whaiora in their recovery journeys, maintaining sobriety. Lived experience is the vehicle for carrying the message of hope through emotional vulnerability of self-expression. Validation of post-treatment recovery is the ability to express emotionally and mentally in an environment of safety and trust. This noho is to celebrate cleantime by our Māori collective of PSW, who have gained 12-months plus. Whaiora will be exposed to a balanced variety of pre- & post-treatment within the noho, focusing on the “how we done it” kaupapa & kōrero.

Whilst the celebratory kaupapa, the brief therapeutic AOD interventions of 12 Steps, CBT, Narrative, Kapahaka and whanaungatanga will explored. Inclusive of sponsored pro-social activities of boat fishing, jetski and motorbikes for pure adrenaline fun. The lifeline of Maori PSW maintaining & remaining in recovery is the simpleness of “giving back what we were given freely”. Ko te Tumanako Tuakana o Hapaitia.
